Now that summer is well any truly with us it’s time for me to tell you all the new Bagladybird – Learn to Sew things that are coming up in July & August at StraightCurves in Chesterfield.
If you haven’t heart of StraightCurves they are on Saltergate in Chesterfield an run a range of high quality arts & crafts workshops for adults and kids and I’ve been the dressmaking tutor there since Autumn 2017.
There is a fully equipped sewing studion as well as two other studios with large tables for cutting out your projects.

There is a 1 week Beginner’s Dressmaking course, running Monday 30th July – Friday 3rd August 1pm-3.30pm. This course usually runs one day a week over 5 weeks, so if you are impatient and you want quick results, then this is the course for you.
It is also ideal for teachers, teaching assistants and anyone else who get a long summer break!
(There are more dates for this workshop online too starting in September.)

With patterns designed by the Great British Sewing Bee contestant and Simply Sewing Magazine columnist, you will learn how to sew great wearable clothes that you will love to show off to your friends and family.

Kimono style jackets are such a big trend this year and you can make your very own at StraightCurves on Thursday 2nd August (6-9pm).
This workshop is ideal for beginner’s who already know how to use a sewing machine, a good quick and easy make, ideal to thrown on over a dress on summer evenings, on the beach or dress up a jeans and T-shirt combo.

I’m also hosting a bunch of Sew Social sessions at StraightCurves on Wednesdays throughout July & August, with morning afternoon or evening sessions available. Come and sew in a friendly and supportive environment, use the sewing machines and cutting tables and get my advice on your project.
