It’s been over a year since I started my online dressmaking club. Which is now call the Love & Stitches Club, previously the Learn to Sew Membership Club. So a whole year of sewing within our lovely community!
Since starting in July 2020 we’ve done 13 Sew Alongs together. One a month, every month and we’ve had some amazing member results.
Let me run through some of the amazing makes!
Helen’s Closet – Winslow Culottes
Jane made these gorgeous culottes and inserted her first invisible zip following the sew along videos.
Sew Liberated – Matcha Top
Both Bekah and Laura B made these awesome Matcha tops. Following the step by step instructions means that they nailed the tricky collar detail. Jayne W made the version with sleeves and it also looks awesome.

Style Arc – Bob Pants
Amanda & Sadie made brilliant Bobs! They are a perfect summer trouser. Just look at Sadie’s pocket detail.

Sinclair Patterns – Carmel Tulip Top
Very different looks and different styles from the same pattern from Sadie & Karen. The Carmel tulip top gives lots of options in the pattern. Both making great use of contrast fabrics. Can you believe that this was Karen’s first ever make using knit or jersey fabrics?!

Paper Theory – Olya Shirt
Barbara made this beautiful Olya shirt making great use of a striped fabric. This is a more advanced pattern, but following the videos through the stages helps even beginner sewists create successful garments.
Tilly & the Buttons – Billie
This was Bekah’s first garment: a lovely Billie Sweatshirt. I encourage newbies to take the plunge and make clothes they will love to wear.
Pattydoo – Lynn or Tony Hoodie
This is one of my personal favourite patterns. I love that it’s not just a basic hoodie and that the details really make it feel luxurious. Laura loved it so much she made her Mum one too. Don’t they look fantastic? Reunited after lockdown. And Gail really upped the ante by embroidering a phoenix on the back!

Made my Wardrobe – Zahra Jumper
Gail made this cosy Zahra jumper with contrasting collar and cuffs during the sew along. Jane made grerat use of the ombre effect fabric for a lighter weight version.

Pressing Tools – Tailors Ham & Seam Roll
Jane made these pressing tools during the sew along and also roped her husband into making her a tailors clapper too. Using pressing tools helps to really give your clothes a more polished finished. Pressing as you sew is something I encourage all new sewers to do as it really makes a big difference.
Pipe Dream Patterns – The Tara Basic
This is another pattern that has a lot of different options. I made the bodysuit version and found it brilliant for winter layering.
This is the only sew along I could not find any member photos to share. So you get to see me in mine!
Closet Core – Carolyn Pajamas
Another more advanced project, with piping details, buttons & buttonholes and a collar. Laura B made this lovely pair! They are perfect for lux lounging.
Paper Theory – Zadie Jumpsuit
Helen & Jane both made great versions of the Zadie jumpsuit. When I spoke to Helen to ask permission to use this photo she said she’s planning a needlecord version for autumn/winter 21.

Made my Wardrobe – Josie Bra & Pants
Wow! This was the first ever sew along and it seems so long ago! Laura H and Helen’s versions show just how versatile this pattern can be. Buzzy bees or red and black lace. You are only limited by your own imagination! that she would never have been able to make these without the sew along videos.
