Seasonal Sewing Plans – Autumn 2021

by | Sep 13, 2021

It’s that time of year again when I’m thinking about my wardrobe and my seasonal sewing plans. This Autumn I have a few things my wardrobe is lacking and I want to plan the projects I need to fill these gaps.

I love to use the change in seasons to give my wardrobe a bit of an audit. To think of what styles I’m loving right now. And what combinations of  my current clothes I can put together in a new fresh way.

I don’t want to be making things for the sake of making. I want to make things that will work for me, my style, my lifestyle and my colour palette.

Cardigans

We’re going to be making the Itch to Stitch Aveiro Cardigan in the October Sew Along in the Love & Stitches Club. I want a lovely, long, button up, ribbed cardigan that I can layer up on chillier Autumn days.

I’m also planning to make a ballet style wrap cardigan from a pointelle knit fabric. I’ve wanted one for years and I just think they are perfect to wear over dresses to keep me warm. I’ve got a couple of patterns that I’ve been thinking about, but I haven’t decided. I’ll let you know.

Dresses

I might be being optimistic, but I’m hoping that Christmas parties will be a thing again in 2021. So you know that means dresses!

I bought this amazing Picasso-esque viscose twill from the Fabric Godmother and it really needs to be a dreamy Closet Core Pauline dress.

Because this is quite a fitted dress and my fabric is so special. I’m going to make up a wearable toile in a much cheaper stripe linen that I got from Pound Fabrics over the summer.

Jeans

This wardrobe staple is something that’s always on my list!

I’m loving the Meghan Nielsen Ash Jeans. The pattern is designed for stretch denim and has 4 different leg options.

I’ve got this black/grey denim to create a wearable toile to allow me to tweak the fit before making in this great moss green stretch denim.

I’m torn between the straight leg and the flare. But if there a success I hope to get round to making more than one leg shape of the Ash Jeans.

I think that’s all I need this Autumn. Ask me how I’m getting on with my seasonal sewing plans when you speak to me. That’ll help keep me on track & focussed.

What you are planning to make this season?
