Hi Lovely,

Over the next few months I’ll be hosting a range of workshops at Oh Sew Sweet in Wombwell, near Barnsley to help you build a capsule wardrobe collection of me made clothes from a range of Sew to Grow Patterns.

Sew to Grow patterns are designed to help you get great fitting me-made clothes that will build your body confidence as well as your sewing confidence with the Fit to Flatter pattern adaption techniques that will help you understand your body shape better and how to adapt patterns to fit.

Each month we will make a different garment together and will learn new skills and techniques and will help your confidence as a dressmaker soar! Designed as a course of workshops; each month we will build on the skills learnt before. For best results book the full course or dip in and book to make one off garments that you will love.

Oh Sew Sweet are now stocking a small range of dressmaking patterns specially selected to compliment the Sew to Grow patterns. See in store for more info or to get advice on suitable fabrics.

Bespoke Blazer – Saturday 25th May

Dress to impress, day or night, in the Bespoke Blazer. Make the 3/4 sleeve version out of rayon for a flirty casual feel, or use a structured linen for a posh polished look. The back seaming contours to create a figure flattering shape, and the front panels cascade back to reveal the lining. Great opportunity to add a pop of colour! Style the Bespoke Blazer with your favourite pair of jeans, a smart dress, or a great skirt/top combo to make this style uniquely yours.

Stella Skirt – Saturday 23rd February:

Inspired by the effortlessly chic styles of the 1960’s, the Stella Skirt features exposed topstitched pockets, chunky belt loops, and a thick hem for an added retro flare. Mix and Match your prints to create a whole new look or keep it clean and simple with a stone washed linen or thick wale cord.

This skirt comes in two lengths. The above the knee version (mini) and below the knee (midi). It’s a simple shape skirt, but with lots of room to add personal touches like adding piping to the front panel or pockets.

This workshop is Β£59 and includes your copy of the Sew to Grow Pattern (RRP Β£18).

Fabric Requirements:

  • Mini Skirt (above knee) – (45”(115cm)/60”(150cm)wide) – 1.5m
  • Midi Skirt (below knee) – (45”(115cm)/60”(150cm)wide) – 1.75m
  • 25m lightweight fusible interfacing
  • 9” invisible zip
  • Matching thread

Fabric suggestions:

Linen, corduroy, denim and other medium weight woven fabrics.

Seoul Blossom Blouse – Saturday 30th March :

The feminine details and soft silhouette of the Seoul Blossom Blouse are inspired by my time discovering the wonders and beauty of South Korea. This top features flattering front diamond darts, V-Neck, and a curved back hem with side slits making it perfect for the “french tuck”. The optional bow cuff completes the design making this the top you’ve been looking for to add to your handmade wardrobe.

β€œWhen I travel around teaching workshops, I always have women asking me for the “Perfect” garment. They want sleeves, something to cover their bum, a little bit of shape, not to tight around the hips etc… and I took all this into account when designing this new top.

There are two sleeve length options, 3/4 and full length. You can also choose to add or eliminate the bow tie cuff. It is super cute, but just watch out it doesn’t dip into your guacamole. (Ask me how I know…)

The front diamond darts are perfect for adding a little bit of shape. You can also leave out the darts for a looser fitting top. The back slightly dips lower than the front, with an added side split hem to give a little extra room through the hips.

I think this top would also look great lengthened into a tunic or dress. I haven’t had a chance to do it yet, but I’m dying to see someone try it. I bet it will look

FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!”

Fremantle Frock – Saturday 27th April:

The Fremantle Frock is a clever design that will certainly fit to flatter any shape! This dress features contouring princess lines down the front of the dress, with some sneaky hidden pockets.
