Wow! November has been a bit of a whirlwind at BagLadyBird!! If you’ve missed it, here’s what we’ve been up to…

It was business as usual at the Learn to Sew Woven Tees Workshop at The Hub in Retford. This fab venue is a craft shop/deli/farm shop/gallery & tourist information in Retford. It also has workshop space for artists in residence. We had some wonderful tees created and had heaps of giggles and fun while we were at it!

Next up we were at a brand new venue in Bawtry, the Methodist Church Hall for a brand new workshop too, this was the first ever workshop where we were working with jersey. Some lovely new ladies joined us and made tee dresses. Lovely and casual and so easy to wear.

I had the opportunity to go on at talk show on Doncaster’s community radio station Sine FM. I was on the #Doncasterisgreat show with Andrew Isaacs and we talked about my sewing machine collection/obsession as well as the upcoming Crafternoon that I am holding in aid of Mind at Helm on Sunday 4th December (11am-12.30pm).

At the Crafternoon I will be showing everyone who joins us how to make the origami star Christmas decorations that I decorated our tree with last year. When I also taught my old team to create the origami stars and we decorated my old office creating a winter wonderland of origami stars and snowflakes made from white photocopier paper! Not sure how popular I was with the print room last Christmas!

If you would like to join us on Sunday (£10 suggested donation) please email Rachael at ayeup@backindonny.uk to book your place.  Drinks & cakes & mince pie are provided and festive jumpers are a must!

Then to start the festive season off right we had a wonderful Learn to Sew Christmas Stockings workshop at Helm, this was the busiest workshop so far but I always love these taster workshops that I hold at Helm as it allows people to get all creative when they are decorating their makes. There were some awesome Christmas Stockings created. You can watch a video we made at the event here.

Another lovely shift dresses workshop in Swinton. At the workshops in Swinton the fabric is included in the price and is chosen from a specially curated selection of fabrics provided by Thread Mill Fabrics in Swinton. This workshop is always popular and we had some beautiful shift dresses made at this one.

The last workshop of the month was the very first Learn to Sew Your Own Project Workshop at St Nicholas Church Hall in Bawtry. Five ladies came together to work on their own projects. Two of them had already started and had reached a tricky bit that they needed help with, another lady had brought a brand new project to start and the other 2 ladies decided that they wanted to make my shift dress. We all had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to see what the next sew your own project workshop brings!!! (More info here.)

In November I also launched Bagladybird – Learn to Sew Gift Vouchers and Get to know your Sewing Machine (or overlocker) 1 to 1 lessons (£30 for 1 hour in my home sewing studio).
